Home Ec Fashion Show!
This morning, we had our Transition Year Home Ec fashion show. For our home ec module, We were put into groups of four and given a white pair of jeans and a white t-shirt.
My group were given the colour red and we decided to go with a theme of 'Red Riding Hood'. We made a dress and cloak by adding sheets and our outfit turned out quite well. It was good to see what the other groups had designed and we all had fun. We will find out the winners of prizes tomorrow.

Today at lunch, our class BANBA are having a cake sale in order to raise funds for our mini-company's.
We have a baked lots of different types of cakes and we will sell them in the hall at lunch to all of the students and teachers in the school.
There are four different mini company's in the class so we are all in competition to raise the most money for our mini company's. There are 8 people in our mini company 'Indulgence' so we will hopefully have a good chance to raise money...Wish us luck!

What i thought of work experience
I really enjoyed my week of work experience in St Patricks primary school last week. I was nervous going in on the first day but all of the staff were really friendly and helpful. I was put into a senior infant class, the teacher was really nice and gave me some jobs straight away.
Over the week, i got to know all of the children in the class, they were all nice children and really friendly.
At the end of the week i was dreading coming back to school, i loved work experience and it showed me that i would love to be a primary school teacher.

Work Experience
Next week, from the 14th-18th of November, all TY's are going out on work experience. I am going to a local primary school for the week as I am interested in pursuing a career in primary school teaching. I am nervous to go out on work experience but there are 3 other girls from the school going to the same place so I wont be alone!
I will be sitting in on a Junior Infant class and helping the teacher out for the week. I am excited for the experience and I hope it will give me an idea of what primary school teaching is like.
Hopefully, I will enjoy the experience and get a good experience of the world of work.

Juno and the Paycock
Yesterday, 19th October, all TY's went into town in the morning. We came into school, got registration and got on the bus. It took about 45 minutes.
First we went to the 'Bog Bodies' exhibition in the National Museum. It was really interesting to see the bodies that were preserved in bogs around the country for hundreds of years.
Next, we went to the Yeats exhibition in the National Library, this was good for the TY's to visit as we will be studying Yeats for our Leaving Cert in two years.
After the Yeats exhibition we made our way to Grafton Street and were let go for lunch. We all went to McDonalds then walked around the shops.
Our last stop of the day was to the Abbey Theatre to see 'Juno and the Paycock' which is the play we read in English. The play was two and a half hours long but it was enjoyable to watch after reading the play. All of the actors and actresses in the play were really talented and all of us had fun watching.
Everyone enjoyed the trip to town and we hope we can go on more trips throughout the year:)

Carlingford! :)
At 7 o'clock on Monday morning, all of TY met up at esso to set off for our trip to Carlingford adventure centre. It took us an hour and a half to get to carlingford and when we got there we all had to carry our overpacked bags up to the hostel we were staying in. When we first arrived we met some of the instructors and were told that our first activity would be laser tag, we got changed into camoflage overalls and were givin our laser guns. We played laser tag in the forest, we rolled around in the muck and got dirty but it was still really fun. Later on that night we went back to the forest for a nightline, we were all in a line, blindfolded and holding on to the person in front of us. We had to hold on to a rope and guide eachother through the forest, it was all about communication skills and we all did quite well. When we got back to the hostel we got chinese and went to our rooms. I stayed in a room with all of my friends, we had good fun and were entertained for the night. At 2 o'clock in the morning, i eventually got some sleep and woke up at half 7, everyone was wrecked. That morning we had breakfast and set offfor rock climbing and ab-sailing. After that we had lunch and went orientering, we had to hike up the mountain and look for letters making up a phrase, it was hard work because everyone was tired from the day before but we were the first group back and got to have a rest while we were waiting for everyone else to come back. At 5 o'clock we got on the bus and left Carlingford, most of us slept on the journey home and we arrived back at half 6. I really enjoyed Carlingford, i thought all of the instructors were really nice and i would love to go back.
Today everyone is tired and nervous because we are getting our Junior Cert results later on..Wish me luck!

First Week Of TY!
Last Monday, 29th September, was my first day back in school after summer and my first day of Transition Year. When we first came in we were put into our classes, Banba, Eiru and Folda. I was put into Banba with some of my friends and i was really happy with my class. We were then given our timetable and went off to class.
On Thursdays all TY's do three different activities for our afternoon classes, first we do dancing, then a photography class and pilates. This is really enjoyable as it is something different that we do once a week.
In science class we found out that we would be entering the young scientist competition in groups of three. In geography we will be doing a project in which we must organise a trip around the world to six different counties within a year with a budget of twelve thousand euro each. We also have a class called mini-company in which we are in groups of eight and we must run our own mini-company and we each invest a certain amount of share capital for this company.
Next Monday, 12th September all of TY will be going on a trip to Carlingford for one night. I am looking forward to going on the trip and getting to know all of the TY's.
